Using 0- to l-inch micrometer (3),
check outside diameter.
If outside diameter Is less than
0.432 In. (10.97 mm), tag cross.
head guide for replacement. See
step 22.
b.
Using steel machinist rule, check for
straightness.
If crosshead guide Is not at right angle
to milled surface of cylinder head, tag
crosshead guide for replacement.
See step 22.

Using magnetic inspection method, in-
spect for cracks.
If cracks are found, discard cross-
head.
