This  appendix  lists  all  of  the  common  and  special  tools  required  to  maintain  the  Diesel  Engine  Assembly,  Hatz  2  G  40. This appendix is for reference only.  To requisition special tools, refer to Appendix C, Repair Parts and Special Tools List (RPSTL). G-2. EXPLANATION OF COLUMNS IN SECTION II. a. Column (1) - Item Number.  This number is assigned to the  entry in the listing and is referenced in the initial setup in each maintenance procedure to identify the item (e.g., General mechanic's tool kit, Item 11, Appendix G). b. Column  (2)  Item  Name.    This  column  lists  the  item  by  nomenclature  and  other  descriptive  features,  such  as measurement. c. Column (3) National Stock Number.  This is the national stock number assigned to the item; use it to requisition or request an item. d.   Column  (4)  Part  Number.    This  indicates  the  primary  number  used  by  the  manufacturer  who  controls  the  design and   characteristics   of   the   item   by   means   of   engineering   drawings,   specification,   standards,   and   inspection requirements. e.   Column  (5)  Reference.    This  column  identifies  the  authorizing  supply  catalog  (SC)  or  RPSTL  for  items  listed  in this appendix.
