DATA PLATES.
Refer to Table 1-2 for the engine option codes. The engine option codes data plate is affixed to the top of the rocker arm
cover (4, Figure 1-1). These codes indicate which of the engine options were installed on your engine at the factory.
These codes are important when parts and service are required. The engine option code includes an engine base code (1,
Figure 1-2) which identifies the basic engine installed. The engine option code consists of a four-digit number. The first
two digits of each code identify a specific group, such as alternators. The last two digits of each code identify one
specific option provided on your engine, such as 12-volt, 55-amp alternator. If an engine is ordered without a particular
component, the last two digits of that functional group option code will be 99, 00, or XX.
