Mark size of rod and main bearings to be used  on  front  counterweight  as  shown  in view  A. b. Mark size of front and rear thrust wash- ers to be used on rear counterweight as shown  in  view  B. WARNING Heat-protective cloth mittens must be worn to prevent serious injury to hands when handling heated parts. 10. Crankshaft (1) Crankshaft  gear  (2) and  new  machine key  (3) NOTE a. Heat crankshaft gear for one hour at 450°F  (214°C). b. Position  new  machine  key  on  crankshaft. c. Lubricate  crankshaft  gear  flange  with extreme-pressure   grease,   aline   crank- shaft  gear  with  crankshaft,  and  using arbor  press  and  hollow-core  mandrel, press  crankshaft  gear  into  position. Pack  proper  size  bearings,  as  marked  on  crankshaft,  with  crankshaft  for  assembly. NOTE FOLLOW-ON  MAINTENANCE:  install  crankshaft  assembly  and  bearings (page  2-54).
