Spur gear and idler Using prussian blue, mark shaft on gear shaft  assembly  (4) pump  housing  side. 21. Shaft (5) and gear (6) a. Support gear and, using arbor press and mandrel, press out shaft. b. Lubricate  shaft  with  extreme-pressure grease. c. Position shaft in gear and, using arbor press and mandrel, press shaft into gear  until  gear  face  is  0.680  to  0.690 inch  (17.27  to  17.53  mm)  from  gear pump housing end of shaft.
