4-14. Cylinder Head Covers (cont).
a. R e m o v a l . (figure 4-2)
N O T E
Steps 1 and 2 are for engines equipped with breaker point ignitions.
(1) Loosen connector nut (1) and disconnect high tension cable (2).
(2) Remove five screws (3) and washers (4) and remove two cylinder head covers (5).
N O T E
Steps 3 through 5 are for engines equipped with breakerless ignition system.
(3) Remove screw (6) and washer (7), loosen screw (8) and move ignition control unit (9) out of way.
(4) Remove screw (8) and washer (10).
(5) Remove remaining three screws (11 ) and washers (12) and remove two cylinder head covers (13).
b. R e p a i r .
Repair all dents in cylinder head covers, and repaint as necessary.
c. Installation. (figure 4-2)
N O TE
Steps 1 through 3 are for engines equipped with breakerless ignition.
(1) Install cylinder head covers (13) and secure with three screws (11) and washers (12).
(2) Install screw (8) and washer (1 0) part way.
(3) Position ignition control unit (9) and secure with two screws (6) and (8) and washers

Steps 4 and 5 are for engines equipped with breaker point ignition.
(4) Install cylinder head covers (5) and secure with five screws (3) and washers (4).
(5) Install high tension cable (2) and tighten connector nut (1).
