Fuel Injection Pump Advance Assembly:
The advance assembly is a device that automatically advances the time of the fuel injection to
maximize power and economy. The advance unit is located within the gear train that drives
the fuel injection pump and is housed in the accessory drive housing.
The advance unit is designed to gradually advance the injection timing in relation to engine
speed from idle to 1,850 rpm. A maximum advance of 11 degrees is reached at this speed and
remains constant to maximum engine rpm.
