3-25. REPAIR CAMSHAFT
NOTE
Repair is limited to replacement of timing gear. Gear is press-fit on camshaft.
a. Remove timing gear.
CAUTION
ANYTIME CAMSHAFT GEAR IS TO
BE REUSED, DO NOT APPLY HEAT
WITH A TORCH DURING REMOVAL
OR INSTALLATION OF GEAR.
IF
TORCH
IS-USED
TO
REMOVE GEAR, A NEW GEAR MUST
BE
INSTALLED
TO
PREVENT
FUTURE GEAR FAILURE.
(1) Place camshaft in press with V-blocks or
spacers.
(2) Ensure that hub area and not outer gear surface
is supported.
(3) Press camshaft from gear.
(4) Remove and discard key.
