TM 9--2815--247--34 0018 00--1 ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS 0018 00 THIS WORK PACKAGE COVERS: Engine Specifications ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS Speed Range The engine must operate satisfactorily under all loads through a speed range of 1000 to 2400 rpm and must idle satisfactorily at 825--875 rpm. Gross Horsepower (Without Accessories) Under full throttle setting, engine will develop 1050--1080 gross horsepower at 2400 rpm, using fuel conforming to Specification JP--8 MIL--T--83133. Gross Torque (Without Accessories) Under full throttle setting, engine will develop the following gross torque using fuel conforming to Specification JP--8 MIL--T--83133: 2422 to 2509 lb--ft (3284 to 3402 NSm) at 1800 rpm. 2298 to 2363 lb--ft (3116 to 3204 NSm) at 2400 rpm. Oil Consumption NOTE Oil consumption is checked only on 50--hour tests. Engine shall not consume more than 0.0075 pounds (0.01017 NSm) per brake horsepower hours (lbs/bhp/hr) of lubricating oil when operating under full load and using engine oil conforming to Military Specification MIL--L--2104, Grade 15W--40. Fuel Consumption (Without Accessories) When operating at full throttle under full load, on a dynamometer, at a speed of 2400 rpm, engine shall consume not more than 0.420 pounds (0.56952 NSm) per brake horsepower hour (lbs/bhp/hr) fuel conforming to Specification JP--8 MIL--T--83133. When operating at full throttle under full load, on a dynamometer at 1800 rpm, the engine shall not consume more than 0.400 lbs/bhp/hr (0.5424 NSm) of fuel conforming to JP--8 MIL--T--83133. Exhaust Gas Temperature The engine shall not exceed the following maximum allowable temperatures when operating at full power setting, with an air inlet maximum temperature of 120°F (48.9°C), from maximum torque rpm to rated rpm. Air inlet temper- ature shall be measured at the turbocharger compressor inlet. (1) Exhaust gas temperature: 1400°F (760°C) measured at individual cylinder ports with turbocharger inlet air flow restriction less than 1.0 inch of Hg. (2) Exhaust temperature variation between cylinders shall not exceed 250°F (121°C) under full load conditions, 350°F (176.7°C) below 2100 rpm. Blow--by Pressure With engine under full throttle and full load, blow--by shall not exceed 23.5 cfm with new cylinders, and 27 cfm with used cylinders. Lubricating Oil Temperature Temperature of oil in the engine gallery shall not exceed 250°F (121°C). Temperature of oil entering the engine through the oil pump shall be maintained between 140°F and 250°F (60°C and 121°C).
