Assembly
1. Install oil--control piston ring expander spring (11) on piston (10) by joining at parting line.

CAUTION
Use care in installing rings to avoid damaging ring lands
or distorting rings. Failure to comply will result in prema-
ture failure.
NOTE
Oil--control piston rings are symmetrical and may be
installed either side up.
2. Install oil--control piston ring (4) using remover and replacer (9).
CAUTION
When installing all compression rings, make sure rings
with the marking “TOP” or “PIP” are installed with mark
toward the piston dome. Failure to comply will result in
premature failure.
3. Install intermediate compression ring (3) and keystone rings (2 and 1), using remover and replacer (9).
