Carefully place cylinder head (3) on engine block aligning engine block dowels with cylinder head dowel holes.
c.
Lubricate nineteen bolts (2) with engine lubricating oil (MIL-L-2104) and install them hand tight.
d.
Tighten bolts (2) in two steps following sequence shown in FIGURE 3-76.
(1) Step 1 - New bolts - 47.0 ft-lbs
(63.7 Nm)
- Used bolts - 47.0 ft-lbs
(63.7 Nm)
(2) Step 2 - New bolts - 58 ft-lbs
(78 Nm)
- Used bolts - 65.0 ft-lbs
(88.3 Nm)

Lubricate ends of pushrods (1, FIGURE 3-60) with engine lubricating oil (MIL-L-2104) and install eight push-
rods.

Install intake and exhaust manifolds, refer to paragraph 3-21.3.

Install thermostat housing, refer to paragraph 3-6.4.
