4-12 INSTALL BEVEL GEAR ASSEMBLY

Check slings and lifting devices for cuts
breaks, or wear before and during
hoisting. Slings and lifting devices can
break and cause injury or death
Bevel gear assembly must be lifted using
sling and hoist. To avoid injury, keep out
from under and clear of bevel gear assem-
bly at all times. Do not let bevel gear
assembly swing freely during hoisting.
CAUTION
Do not bend or mash tubes when lifting
bevel gear assembly.
Closed tube will cause
transmission malfunction.
NOTE
Machined boss (5) on down side of bevel gear
assembly must seat in pedestal (6) on center
housing before bevel gear assembly will go
all the way into transmission
2 Hoist bevel gear assembly (4) into transmission.
3 Using socket, remove three 3/8-16 x 1-1/4 inch bolts
(1) and washers (2) from sling lugs. Remove sling.
WARNING
Do not turn transmission over. If
transmission is rotated on maintenance
stand before input housing is installed, bevel
gear assembly will fall and could cause
injury.
