LOCATION/ITEM ACTION REMARKS a.  Disassembly CAUTION Do not use heating torch to remove camshaft gear from camshaft if camshaft gear is to be reused.  Heating will damage camshaft gear. NOTE Prior to step 1, clean and inspect camshaft and camshaft gear (steps 6, 8, and 9).  Do not separate camshaft and camshaft gear unless damaged or not within wear limits. 1.   Camshaft(5) a.  Put in press. b.  Put V-blocks under camshaft Ensure V-blocks support gear (2). hub area of camshaft gear (2). c.  Using press, remove camshaft gear (2). d.  Remove gear-to-camshaft key (4). 2.   Camshaft orifice plug (1) Remove from camshaft (5). and thrust washer (3) NOTE Repeat steps 3, 4, and 5 for each cam follower assembly. 3.   Two shaft locking screws (10) Remove from cam follower housing (13). 3-188
