The timing code for this engine is BM Big Cam I or BY Big Cam III, reference the engine data plate.  Code BM is used for CPL 324 and 327.  Code BY is used for CPL 393. (1.35-1.37 mm) for Big Cam I. f.  If push rod travel is greater than limits indicated above, engine timing is slow.  If the push rod travel is less, timing is fast. c.  Changing Injection Timing CAUTION Never change cam follower assembly gaskets to correct injection timing until checking the following: Timing tool is correctly installed. Dial indicators are correctly adjusted. Crankshaft has been rotated in the correct direction. Screws for cam follower assemblies have been tightened to 30-35 lb-ft (41-48 Nm). 3-572
