TM 9--2815--247--34 0064 00--21 ENGINE CRANKSHAFT REPAIR -- CONTINUED 0064 00 Installation -- Continued CAUTION All studs which exceed the stretch limits at less than 58 lb--ft (78.6 NSm) must be replaced. Refer to WP 0012 00. All studs that exceed the stretch limits above 58 lb--ft (78.6 NSm) must be loosened and re--subjected to step 25. Re--torquing any single stud is not allowed. The adjacent stud must also be loosened and re--torqued in sequence. NOTE Stud stretch is defined as the difference between the orig- inal height recorded in step 24 above, and the height ob- served after nuts have been torqued. 26. Place dial indicator (42) on one of four studs (45) and measure stud stretch. 27. With dial indicator (42) still on stud (45) apply sufficient torque to slotted nut (6) to align slot with drilled hole in stud and to obtain a stud stretch of 0.019 to 0.022 inches (0.4826 -- 0.5588 mm). Do not exceed 0.024 inches (0.6096 mm) stud stretch. 28. Repeat steps 26 and 27 for the remaining three studs (45) and slotted nuts (6) on main bearing cap No. 4. Figure 2 6 42 45
