BASIS FOR BEARING REJECTION ACCEPTABLE BEARING FLAWS Separation of bearing metal, or signs of pos- sible separation. Fine scratches on bearing surface Pitting or any other form of destruction to bear- ing surface. Minute pieces of metal and dirt particles em- bedded in bearing surface with a concentration of less than 5 percent. (Do not attempt to re- move such particles) Raised metal at edges of scratches. Pieces of metal or dirt particles embedded in bearing surface with a concentration of 5 per- cent or more of the surface area. 9.   Apply a thin coating of Prussian blue to the backs of connecting rod bearings (4 and 5). 10. Install the bearings (4 and 5) in their respective connecting rod (3) and cap (2) according to the location markings. Figure 8 5 4 3 2
