ARMY TM 9-2815-255-24 AIR FORCE TO 38G1-95-2 MARINE CORPS TM 2815-24/4 NOTE The  plug  contains  a  viscosity  compensating  orifice  and  should  be  installed  so  top  of  screw  is flush with end of regulator assembly. (3) Install piston (9) in the regulator with hollow end facing spring or threaded end of bore.  Install spring (10) and adjusting plug (7). (4) Using O-ring pick, check piston for freedom of movement in its bore. aa. Install  assembled  regulator  on  liner  (15).    Coat  beveled  surface  on  element  strainer  base  (6)  with  general purpose grease (630AA). ab. Install element strainer (6) onto transfer pump regulator assembly. ac. Coat beveled surface and threads on OD of end cap (5) with general purpose grease (630AA). ad. Install end cap (5) and thread into hydraulic head by applying a slight pressure on top of end cap.  Rotate end cap counterclockwise until a slight click is heard, then turn cap clockwise by hand until tight. ae. If disassembled, attach link assembly (76, FIGURE 3-45) to link hook (46) with screw (74) and washer (75). af. If disconnected, connect spring (47) to governor arm (44) and linkage hook assembly (46). ag. Install drive shaft (41, FIGURE 3-52), seals (40), thrust washer (39), spring washer (38), and retaining ring (37) as follows: CAUTION Extreme  care  must  be  used  when  Installing  seals  or  leaks  will  result  from  distortion  and/or damage to teflon sealing element.  Calibration oil may be used to facilitate seal Installation. (1) Apply a light coat of general purpose grease (630AA) to seals (40). (2) Install seals (40) on shaft (41). CAUTION Do not Invert drive shaft seals (40) when Installing drive shaft (41).  If resistance Is felt, stop and Inspect seal.  If seal was forced back, stop and replace seal. NOTE Before  installing  shaft  (41),  find  small  drilled  hole  (off-center)  on  drive  shaft  tang.    There  is  a similar hole drilled in the distributor rotor.  When installed, the drive shaft and distributor rotor holes must be aligned. (3) Compress seals (40) and install drive shaft (41) in pump housing. (4) Slide  thrust  washer  (39),  aligned  with  flat,  and  then  spring  washer  (38)  onto  drive  shaft.    Secure  with retaining ring (37). ah. Place  governor  arm  (44,  FIGURE  3-45)  into  position  in  housing.    Insert  governor  shaft  (73)  through  hole  in housing so knife edge mates with groove in governor arm, refer to FIGURE 3-75. 3-105
