TM9-2815=202-34 4-29.  CAMSHAFT  AND  GEAR  ASSEMBLIES  REPLACEMENT  (Cent) c.  Cleanlng WARNING Compressed  air  used  for  cleaning  purposes  will  not  exceed  30  psi.  Use only  with  effective  chip  guarding  and  personal  protective  equipment (goggles/  shield,  gloves,  etc). (1)  Soak  camshafts  in  clean  fuel  oil.  Run  a  bore  brush  through  oil  gallery  to  remove  any  sludge or foreign material. Clean exterior of camshaft. Blow out oil gallery and oil holes with compressed  air. (2) Clean gears, bearirqjs, and related parts with fuel oil. Dry with compressed air. d.   Inspection (1) Check camshaft  keyways and threads for damage. (2) Inspect  camshaft  journals  and  lobes  for  wear  and  scoring.  Check  wear  on  camshaft  lobes  as l follows: (a) Measure flat of cam lobes with a set of tapered feeler gages (41) and straight edge (42). (b)  Replace  camshaft  if  flats  are  more  than  0.003  inch  deep. 4-108
